The purpose of audience feedback is to make sure we are targeting our target market and to see what they are saying about our final product that we all produced. By having people commenting and reviewing our products we are able to see what exactly are our strong suits and our weaknesses so that we can make improvements in order to suit our target market .
Before starting our production we asked our audience certain questions in order to see what our target market was expecting. After all our products were finalised we asked similar questions in order to see if we met our audiences expectations. Because our target audience is aged 15 + they are able to access different forms of social media and use them on a daily basis.

5. Do you find the tagline "she's just one cut away" effective
6. What are the pros and cons of our poster? (list 2 for each)
7. Is the typography effective?
8. Which convention do you notice first? (Main image, title, tagline)
9. Is the lighting effective?
10. Based on the poster, would you want to go and watch the film?

Anaylsis:
Q1: Group found that a majority of our respondents, 9 our of 16 or 56%, found that the main antagonist of the poster was effectively used. 5 people found that improvement was needed and 2 said that it ineffectively used. This tells us that most of what we did was of a good standard for a movie but improvements should be made to ensure that more people like it. Q2: 10 people out of 16 said that our poster looked like a real film poster. This tells us that our use of conventions to create the poster were of a professional standard for the most. 6 others however said that it didn't and whilst that isn't a lot, there is potential room for improvement to make it more professional looking Q3: 75% of our respondents, or 12 out of 17, said that our colour scheme of black, white and red was effective for the theme of our poster. This tells us that we made the right choice in our colour palette in correspondence to the poster and the trailer, and that it fits with the theme. Q4: There was a mixed response for this question. 1 out of 17 thought it was a monster film, 2 out of 16 thought it was a zombie film, 3 out of 16 thought it was a thriller, 5 out of 17 thought it was both slasher and the remaining 5 thought it was a slasher. This tells us that from the poster, the sub genre is quite difficult to identify as it is actually a slasher film which a majority of people thought, but an equal amount saw it as a supernatural. This tells us that our genre conventions were not clear and identifiable, or that they appealed to more than our intended sub genre. Q5: 11 out of 16 respondents found that the tagline felt irrelevant to what the poster looked to be promoting. This tells us that the main image should link more clearly with the tagline so audiences can get a clearer idea of what the film is about so it can compel them to watch Q6: For this question, a majority of our respondents said that the positives were the main image and how it was created and the effects used whereas the negatives involved the lack of information the poster gives on the story and the irrelevance of the tagline, which is meant to give the audience an idea but it seems as though it just further confused them. Q7: 15 out of 17 said that the typography used was effective so that shows that we have an understanding of the type of typography that we should use. Q8: 12 out of 17 said that they noticed the main image first as opposed to the title and the tagline. This was expected as the dominant image takes up a majority of the poster Q9: 13 out 17 said that our use of lighting was effective as Most of our trailer uses lowkey lighting we clearly have a deeper understanding of how mise en scene should be used in our poster. Q10: A majority of or audience said that they would watch the film because of how our antagonist looked on the poster. This tell us that we were correct in using our antagonist as the main dominant image and shows our understanding of conventions. However, quite a few said that the lack of information the poster gives to the audience doesn't compel them to watch it so in this sense, one could argue that it was ineffective. This links to question 5 as they said that the tagline seemed very irrelevant and didn't really explain the films premise |
Conclusion:
From the audience feedback, we as a production team have recognised that our responses were mostly positive and that our trailer has been effective to an extent. We know that in terms of the actual poster, we know that it was well received on most aspects asides from how irrelevant the tagline looks. However, we notice that the poster doesn't give enough information for the audience to feel compelled to watch the film.

Q1.) From the information here I can gather that in my trailer the antagonist on the final trailer was portrayed very well. The reason why some people may be confused is because the antagonist is originally a protagonist. This shows that we used the correct conventions that the audience can identify with.It also shows that our trailer was effective as the protagonist is recognisable.
|
Q2.) The survey shows that people thought my trailer looks like a real trailer similar to the real media texts we use for examples. This is good because it shows that my trailer is successful. This also shows that the conventions were carried out effectively which is beneficial and suggests that if this was marketed this would make money in box office.
|
Q3.) The survey shows that the audience think the cutting times are effective. This shows that my teaser trailer is successful because the cuts and timings can either lead to the success or the failure of a trailer as the audience may not know what is going on and we have to follow the Todorov theory. It shows that we followed the correct structure. This also demonstrates that our film trailer was identified correctly as a trailer as if the structure was muddled up then the audience would not be able to recognise this as a trailer.
|
Q10.) Most people said that the lighting was effective this is good because we want the trailer too dark but not pitch dark to the point where the audience can no longer see anything. Our use of low key lighting was beneficial even though we were not always equipt with light so we settled for our phone flash lights. |
YOUTUBE
We uploaded our trailer onto YouTube and the data we have has shown us the amount of people that have viewed our trailer the ages and genders that have viewed our trailer. This also shows what countries that people are from that view our trailer. It also shows how many comments and like are given.
REACTION VIDEO
Right here we chose to film one of our audience members watching our trailer in order to gain accurate information of how they react. As you can see the the trailer builds up the tension as it goes on. In addition the jump scares are effective. The reason he jumped is because mood is kept the same and there is sudden shock which is our aim as it provides visceral pleasure. We succeeded due to the right reactions given in the reason suggesting that our trailer was extremely effective.
EVALUATION CONCLUSION
This suggests that the sound design was successful they also said that The feedback that was given to us was helpful as they gave different comments on our work. All the people that we asked thought that the sound and lighting said that it was effective and matched the footage well. Most of the positive comments on strength mentioned how the sound made the production way more interesting. I managed to achieve the right atmosphere with sound and light. Our trailer was not predictable at all and this was a success this would provide visceral pleasure as they do not know what will happen next.We thought that the audience would be able to identify our trailer as being supernatural/slasher however some of the audience answered other genres. The viewers however did identity the protagonist from the antagonist.

Magazine Audience Feedback: Liz
Social media has a huge influence on young people through their behaviour and content that they both enjoy and or are exposed to. Some of the most popularly used social media sites have millions of users who are exposed to the content posted online.
Snapchat:
Snapchat is another form of social media used especially within the younger generation; our target audience for the horror movie products we have created are teenagers meaning this form of media is very suitable for it. It further means that there will be a variation of results, feedback and criticism as there is a larger number of people I could ask questions regarding our magazine's front cover too. The disadvantage of asking people questions on snapchat is that you know those you are asking therefore they may feel uncomfortable with telling me the entire harsh but constructive criticism regarding our front cover. Nevertheless, it would be a great app to ask questions on as it's easy to communicate with them and ask them to reason their choices for or against my front cover.

Instagram:
Instagram is a social media site widely used by millions of users, 40% of the 17.2 million in the U.K being teenagers. To take advantage of these statistics, I used it to question people who study media on their opinions on the magazine's front cover. The social media site has features such as the direct message section which allows me to message individuals certain questions however it also enables users to create group chats which allows the person who created it (me), to add all the people I'm including in the questionnaire to reply in the same area making it easier for me to keep track of responses too. Instagram also provides its users with special features such as adding pictures to my story and giving my users the option to select yes or no. This is a good way of interacting with a large number of people however, the responses are restricted to yes or no rather than allowing me to give the users a chance to speak up and explain their answers. Also, the answer yes or no can't answer everything.

Whatsapp:
Whatsapp is another form of social media used however as we progress in technology and the development of apps, whatsapp has slowly become less popular amongst young people as apps such as instagram have increased in popularity. This makes it harder to get an opinion from students of their opinion on my magazine's front cover as the number is quite low. Furthermore, whatsapp is a social media site that does require user's phone numbers, which again, decreases the number of those I can contact for feedback. Another disadvantage of this is that I would have to converse with each student individually in order to get feedback as they may not feel comfortable being in a group chat with other students that they don't know who would also have access to their phone numbers. Finally, whatsapp takes up a lot of storage so not only may people have deleted the app for that reason, but also because the app wouldn't let them access it until they cleared storage therefore discouraging students from answering the questionnaire. One main advantage is that I can communicate with student regardless of whether they like it or not.

This site would also be a great way to communicate with a large number of students at the same time to get their opinions but not only would there be that chance to communicate with the students, but to also gain feedback/constructive criticism. However, to interact on Twitter, I would need an account on there, which I don't have which immediately rules that out.

Questionnaire
For my questionnaire I took advantage of the fact that many students use Instagram and collected a group of people to join a group chat and answer questions. One of the questions asked was regarding their opinion of the colour scheme chosen for the front cover of our magazine. One of the users said they liked the magazine however they weren't too sure the green fit in there/was suitable for the genre.
A second user replied with the same response as the first person and also included that they thought the secondary images I inserted at the bottom of the cover (of shots of the trailer for further promotion) were too dark.
As I reviewed these responses, I concluded that they were "valid". Regarding the colour scheme, I do believe after looking back that the green doesn't suit the theme and actually breaks it as the dominant colours used are red, black and yellow. The green not only breaks the colour scheme, but it also creates a distraction which is great as it is a strap line however, it's not what I want the focus on; the masthead is.
In regards to the secondary images I inserted at the bottom of this front cover, I do agree that although I know what the images are, those who are viewing the magazine for a first time don't and therefore would struggle to distinguish what is included. A way to improve this would have been to increase the brightness of them.

Survey Monkey
The first question I asked was in regards to whether they would recommend the magazine to someone based on the front cover. By asking this question, the results would help me conclude whether the general product completed one of its aims; to satisfy customers to the extent that they recommend it to others to read. By all of the people from this particular audience choosing yes, the chance of the magazine making money is higher especially due to the large increase in the potential audience.
|
Another question the audience answered was which convention out of a selective few they preferred. The most liked was the dominant image which I can infer was because of the edits and effects of the antagonist. The second most liked was the masthead which could maybe be due to the font and colour however no one liked the graphical element which was actually added to the front cover to attract the audience; perhaps they thought it was too much.
|
This question had a text box response meaning the audience could select whichever convention they found most appealing/caught their eye first. The most popular response was the image of the antagonist however there are also the veins on the antagonist's arms which seem to have caught an individual's eye. The masthead also caught someone's eye as it was "bold and red".
|
-+Finally, I asked which character they thought was denoted on the front cover; most people said the antagonist however some said protagonist. I asked this question to ensure that the conventions used here was communicated to the audience (this is very important to ensure that the audience were familiar with whichever character it was. I can infer that people may say that the character is the protagonist as the character could be a victim of possession.
|
CONCLUSION
In conclusion we were able to find out what are audience prefer and what they don't like. All in all people liked our trailer especially the timing and sounds. I addition the audience knew exactly what type of sub genre/s it belonged to. The props and the character were appropriate for the genre. In the reaction trailer we found that the loud sounds were effective. Also we found that the trailer was mostly viewed by our target market which is good and shows that this was effective. If we were to reproduce our trailer I would definitely include more jump cuts to scare the audience more, which would mean more use of the blade tool in final cut pro.
